Silhouette at work

I finally got to put my Silhouette Cameo at work. Thanks to "A Cut Above" online card classes for walking through what Silhouette has to offer. I got a Cameo couple of months back after hearing a lot of good things about it and seeing a demo at Chaitali's. But the first time I tried, I tried to cut some intricate patterns which kinda became messy and I never got to use it again.

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's card on Birdhouse using Silhouette. I loved the card so much that I exactly got the silhouette cut file and exactly followed the steps that she did as I wanted to closely learn the technique. My first try was messy as I did not like how the distressed part came out with vintage photo distress ink. I guess distressing the whole card is not my thing. So I tried again, and this time I used 6x6 designer paper and did it more like paper piecing. She used a technique called welding to make the front and back of the card. And then I mixed it up with traditional die cutting using Cuttlebug. The inner mesh you see, is cut using traditional die-cut from memory box. The bird is also the same from Silhouette - singing bird. "Hugs" is from Ali Edwards digital diecuts.
